About the Job
The Safety Officer is responsible for the safety, health and well-being of all employees and contractors working in the manufacturing areas of Nalas, reviewing/approving manufacturing procedures, batch records, and change requests, leading incident investigations, ensuring safety procedures are followed and identifying safety risks. Role Responsibilities
Responsible for the safety, health and well-being of all employees and contractors working in the manufacturing areas of Nalas
Reviews and approves new and updated manufacturing procedures
Reviews and approves any necessary management of change requests
Reviews completed batch records to identify any potential concerning deviations which could become an issue long term
Leads Incident Investigation Team as necessary
Works with the Manufacturing Team to identify root cause of any potential near miss incidents
Ensures diligent adherence to company’s work instructions and safety practices
Routinely engages with colleagues to address any identified safety risks which may arise during hourly sweeps
Serves as back up Emergency Contact/Coordinator in the event of an incident
Ensures proper storage of raw materials
Inspects manufacturing, raw material and waste storage areas for any potential safety risks
Approves any potential “Hot Work” permit that may be needed
Performing other job duties as needed
Qualifications
Qualified Safety Officer should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in either Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 5-10 years of relevant experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment. Able to work a 40-hour week minimum with possible weekends.
Computer skills required and knowledge of Microsoft Suite/365.
Ability to learn new software.
Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional problem solving skills.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
CSP certification preferred.
