Nalas Chemist Matt Burk contributes to Organic Synthesis text book chapter on Lewis Base Catalysis

September 29, 2016

Our very own Dr. Matt Burk has contributed to a recently published text book: Lewis Base Catalysis in Organic Synthesis.  The book chapter which he co-authored with his former adviser at Yale, Dr. Scott Denmark, details the advances in the field of Lewis base-catalyzed enantioselective alkene functionalizations. It presents the advances in seleno-, sulfeno-, and halofunctionalizations, … >More

Nalas research for novel binder systems as alternatives to isocyanate-based formulations for propellants featured by DOD Environmental Research Program

December 17, 2015

As part of a joint exploratory development (SEED) effort funded by the DOD’s  Strategic Environmental Research Development Program (SERDP), we partnered with Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons China Lake Division to develop a new technology for binders relying on the ligation of neutral components that are well-known for their compatibility with living organisms (see image).  The … >More

Nalas Chemist publishes on synthesis of a compound directed towards treating cancer

April 14, 2015

Check out a recent publication featured in Tetrahedron Letters by Nalas Chemist Matt Burk, Ph.D., which describes synthesis of a protected form of N,N-dimethyl-L-pyrrolosamine on greater than 10-gram scale. This compound is a critical intermediate in ongoing efforts to synthesize the complex natural products (−)-lomaiviticins A and B, which have potential applications in the treatment of cancer.  Matt … >More

New publication by Dr. Matt Burk!

October 8, 2014

We are happy to report a recent publication by Matt Burk on the enantioselective construction of quarternary stereogenic carbons by Lewis Base mediated catalysis. The work was selected for the front cover of Chemistry – A European Journal! Congratulations to Matt and Professor Scott Denmark on their great contributions to science. Matt recently joined the Nalas … >More

Nalas “making sound waves” in Chemical & Engineering News!

February 11, 2014

Check out the February 6, 2014 article “Sound Waves Shake Pharmaceuticals into Cocrystals”  in C&EN!   “Over the past decade, pharmaceutical companies have realized that cocrystallization could offer a way to make better medicines, says Mike Zaworotko of the University of Limerick, in Ireland. “This paper addresses one of the major hurdles of how to make cocrystals on … >More

Nalas publishes cutting-edge cocrystallization work in the American Chemical Society (ACS) Organic Process Research & Development (OPRD) Journal!

Congratulations to Dr. David J. am Ende, Dr. Stephen Anderson and Nalas CEO Jerry Salan on the release of their ACS publication in OPRD!  Nalas is proud to be on the cutting edge of developing innovative technologies for manufacturing cocrystals; cocrystals demonstrate viable applications in both the pharma and defense industries.  Check out the publication here.
